OUR WORK

Since our launch in 2005, Nsumbi Trust has been supporting the pioneering work of Pastor Stephen Jota - a person committed to doing something about the poverty he saw around him. The Stephen Jota Children's Centre is a primary school for 350 children in Nansana on the outskirts of Kampala where currently around 50 children from disadvantaged backgrounds are sponsored. Many of those sponsored children go on to a secondary school - Sozo High School. which is in a rural location about 40 miles from the primary school. Here, as well as O and A levels students learn about agriculture as they gain experience on the farm.

Nsumbi Trust UK is run by 4 Trustees who like Pastor Stephen, are committed to putting their Christian faith into action.

FUTURE PLANS

The Director and School Management Committee are dedicated to creating an outstanding school serving the needs of the poorest children in Kampala as well as local people who can afford fees. There is a long way to go. The school needs to build more Boarding Space to cater for those referred by local services.
There are many single parents hopeful of sponsorship so their child can attend this special school.  Please contact us to find out more

SAFEGUARDING

Nsumbi Trust is committed to ensuring it operates within its safeguarding policy.

This policy applies to trustees, staff, volunteers and anyone working on behalf of Nsumbi Trust, particularly when visiting Uganda and/or as part of the link with the Stephen Jota Children’s Centre (SJCC) and associated projects.

In addition Nsumbi Trust supports the Schools we work with to regularly review and report on their own safeguarding policies and procedures.
