Catch-up School

As part of the process for helping children who are not in school, Nsumbi Trust together with Family Believers Church have set up an informal school in a deprived area of Kampala called Nakulabye. It’s called the Catch-up school. Children, whose carers cannot afford to send them to school, can come to do some learning.

Teachers keep them topped up with the basics and a helper gives them some much needed food.

A team led by a social worker and Pastor Patrick visit the homes of these children to give help and advice about their education. After careful investigation and discussion with carers, some children are given places at our school - Stephen Jota Childrens Centre in Nansana - about 5 miles away.

The School currently runs for two mornings a week. Please help us extend this to 5 mornings a week so that children who might otherwise be street vendors or left to fend for themselves can be given a secure learning environment and some nutritious porridge.
